Seriously?!

So, I'm heading to our Winkel (monthly meeting of pastors in our circuit) this morning and I see a deer dart across the road up ahead of me.  I slow down, 'cause, often, where there's one, there's more.  As I'm looking to make sure there aren't more coming, out of the corner of my eye, I see the deer that had crossed in front of me do an amazing 180-degree flip-turn (I know, what's a "flip-turn"?  I don't know, but that's what I'm calling it) and start heading back in my direction.  A millisecond later, THUMP!  "What the?  How'd that happen?"  I watch in my rear-view mirror and see the deer do like eight flips and land in a heap on the shoulder.  And then, as I pull off the road, I watch that same deer, which could not have possibly survived this episode, get up, shake herself off, and dart into the woods, as if nothing had happened.  Amazing!

I am thankful that no one was hurt, including, evidently, the deer, but my truck has other thoughts:

SERIOUSLY?!

It's a good thing you're not superstitious!

What do you mean, Scott? The only reason that deer hit my truck today was because I forgot my lucky sunglasses at home. :)

Better than hitting a porcupine while riding your motorcycle, like one of my friends did. Those quills don't come out so easily.

Get her back on the 15th!

Glad it wasn't worse and that you were still able to join us for the winkle.

See---it's pointless to try to kill them by any means!
