Holy Wednesday Divine Service

Introit                              Ps. 102:1, 3-4, 12; antiphon:  Phil. 2:10, 8b, 11b
At the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
     in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
[He became] obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
     [Therefore he] is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Hear my prayer, O LORD;
     let my cry come to you!
For my days pass away like smoke,
     and my bones burn like a furnace.
My heart is struck down like grass and has withered;
     I forget to eat my bread.
But you, O LORD, are enthroned forever;
     you are remembered throughout all generations.
At the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
     in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
[He became] obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
     [Therefore he] is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Collect of the Day:
Merciful and everlasting God, You did not spare Your only Son but delivered Him up for us all to bear our sins on the cross. Grant that our hearts may be so fixed with steadfast faith in Him that we fear not the power of sin, death, and the devil; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Old Testament Reading:  Isaiah 62:11-63:7

Gradual: Ps. 69:17, 1-2a
Hide not your face from your servant; for I am in distress;
     make haste to answer me.
Save me, O God!  For the waters have come up to my neck.
     I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold.

Second Reading:  Revelation 1:5b-7

Holy Gospel:  Mark 14:1-2, 10-11
